John Mackris, MAI, MRICS joined Newmark Knight Frank’s Valuation & Advisory group as Senior Managing Director and Market Leader for Illinois, Missouri and Kansas. Since beginning his career in valuation in 1996, he has worked with clients on a wide variety of property types including office, retail, industrial, multi-family, special use assets, and complex mixed-use developments. He has also provided valuation analyses on Tax Increment Financing (TIF) arrangements and a variety of tax abatement structures.
Mr. Mackris provides outstanding client services while overseeing a team of appraisers within the Chicago, St. Louis, and Kansas City offices. He prepares and reviews appraisal reports for a diverse spectrum of property types. Additionally, Mr. Mackris is responsible for the recruitment of top appraisal talent in his markets.
Prior to joining NKF's leadership team, Mr. Mackris was an Executive Director in the Retail Specialty practice of a prominent, national commercial real estate valuation and advisory company. There, he appraised over 500 shopping centers including super-regional malls, lifestyle centers, and festival theme centers primarily within the Midwest region.
Mr. Mackris obtained his Bachelor’s degree at the University of Michigan with a concentration in Economics and holds his Certified General Appraiser license in multiple states throughout the Midwest. He is also a Member of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and a designated member of the Appraisal Institute (MAI).
